Brighton have made contact with Mats Hummels after the Germany international's exit from Borussia Dortmund.

Hummels is a wanted man following his exit from Dortmund at the end of last season, and Brighton have joined the list of clubs to make contact with the 35-year-old. According to , Brighton head coach Fabian Hurzeler is keen to add experience to his squad and is a fan of Hummels, who made 508 appearances for Dortmund across two spells.

Brighton aren't alone in their interest of Hummels, though. The centre-back has reportedly received a number of offers, with Brighton's Premier League rivals West Ham also tracking him. Among the clubs to make an offer are Serie A outfit Bologna, but this has since been rejected.

Hummels, who was left out of Germany's squad for the European Championship, is yet to rule out retiring from football this summer, although he said that's the "least likely scenario".
